How to Peel and Devein Shrimp?

  2. Peel off the shell from the shrimp.
  3. Using a small pairing knife, make a slit along the middle of the back of the shrimp.
  4. Pull out the vein which looks like a dark tube running down the shrimp.

Selecting the Right Shrimp Size

In the U.S., shrimp are sized according to the weight and the count is used to indicate how many shrimp are in one pound. For example, if it reads 16 to 20 count, it means that there are 16 to 20 shrimp in each pound. The fewer shrimp per pound, the larger they are, and as a result, more expensive.

For this recipe, choose larger size shrimps, as they are easier to wrap with bacon. If the shrimps are too small, they cook too fast and turn into rubbery. Shrimps that are about two bite-sized are ideal for this air fryer bacon wrapped shrimp recipe.
