Directions

  1. Place chicken pieces in buttermilk and hot sauce. Place in refrigerator and allow to marinate anytime from 1-24 hours.
  2. Whisk together all-purpose flour, seasoning salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Place a parchment liner in the Air Fryer basket.
  4. Remove a piece of chicken from the buttermilk mixture and place in the flour mixture, coating all sides of the chicken and shaking off any excess flour. Place the chicken pieces in the basket in a single layer.
  5. Close the Air Fryer basket and set the temperature to 390 degrees Fahrenheit and timer to 25 minutes. Start the Air Fryer.
  6. After 13 minutes, open the air fryer and spray any flour spots on the chicken. Flip the chicken and spray the other side with oil, ensuring all the flour spots are covered. Close the air fryer and cook for 12 more minutes.

2. Air Fryer Chicken Breast

Serves: 4| Prep time: 2 mins | Cook time: 20 mins | Total time: 22 mins

Ingredients

  • cooking spray (or rub on oil of choice – use about 1/4 Tablespoon per chicken breast)
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts raw, mine were about 7.5 to 8 ounces each
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (about 1/8 tsp per chicken breast)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (1/8 tsp per chicken breast)
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper (a dash per chicken breast)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (around 1/8 tsp per breast, and you can sub parsley, basil, thyme, etc.)

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano together.
  2. Spray the chicken breasts on the presentation side (smooth side) with cooking spray of choice. I use an avocado oil spray.
  3. Sprinkle some of the seasoning blend on each chicken breast, and use hands to pat and help the seasoning stick.
  4. Place the chicken breast, seasoned side down, in the air fryer.
  5. Spray the bare side, which is now facing up, and sprinkle on the remaining seasoning.
  6. Cook for 10 minutes on 360 degrees.
  7. Flip over (tongs are extremely helpful), and cook until internal temperature reaches at least 165, about another 8 to 12 minutes on 360 depending on the size of your chicken breasts. (Mine was about 7.75 ounces each, and 10 minutes on the 2nd side was perfect. That’s 20 minutes total. See cook time notes section below.)
  8. Remove the basket from the air fryer, and allow the chicken to rest for about 5 minutes before cutting into it. This lets the juices redistribute and helps the chicken be juicier.

Best Air Fryer Appetizers Recipes

Air fryer recipes for Appetizers/Snacks – These snacks are perfect as appetizers or your game day’s bites. They are crispy, flavorsome, and healthy when made with the air fryer! Here are my favorite recipes for air fryer snacks!

1. Air Fryer Tortilla Chips

Serves: 2 | Prep time: 2 mins | Cook time: 8 mins | Total time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 6″ corn tortillas
  • avocado or olive oil spray
  • salt

Directions

  • If your air fryer preheats, preheat it to 350°F.
  • Slice smaller 6″ tortillas into 6 wedges each. Slice larger 8-10″ tortillas into medium-sized rectangles or squares.
  • Spray each side with nonstick spray.
  • Place in the air fryer in a single layer. Edges can overlap slightly but you shouldn’t have tortilla pieces piled on each other.
  • Cook corn tortillas for 6-8 minutes, tossing halfway through cooking time. Cook flour or cassava tortillas for 3-5 minutes, tossing after a couple minutes. Tortillas are done when the corn tortillas are golden brown and crisp, the flour tortillas are golden brown and mostly crunch (most flour tortillas will still give a slight chew), and cassava tortillas are crisp (they don’t get as golden brown).
  • For traditional tortilla chips, sprinkle with salt while the chips are still hot (immediately from the air fryer). For the cinnamon sugar variation, mix together the cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle and toss while the chips are hot.
  • Repeat as many batches as you like. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for two weeks.

7. Cajun Air Fryer Zucchini Chips

Serves: 2 | Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 16 mins | Total time: 26 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 large zucchini 1 1/4 cup sliced, unpeeled
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 10 sprays extra virgin olive oil

Directions

  1. Slice the zucchini with the peel on. You don’t want the slices too thick or too thin. Try to slice them 1/8 inch. Using a mandoline slicer helps.
  2. Place the slices in a bowl and coat the zucchini slices in olive oil. I like to use an olive oil spray (non-areosol). This allows the Cajun seasoning to stick, but doesn’t add a lot of oil and calories.
  3. Now add the Cajun seasoning to the bowl and stir until the slices are well coated in seasoning.
  4. Spray the basket of the Air Fryer with olive oil spray and then put the slices in a single layer in the basket.
  5. Air fry at 370 F for 8 minutes and then flip them over and cook for another 7-8 minutes. You can spritze the slices with more olive oil when you flip them over for extra crunch, if desired.

Best Air Fryer Dessert Recipes

Air fryer recipes for Dessert – It turns out that the air fryer is such a great invention that you can also whip up something sweet with it. Here are some fresh and light air fryer dessert recipes that I have gathered from the web for you.

1. Air Fryer Donuts

Serves: 8 | Prep time: 3 mins | Cook time: 6 mins | Total time: 9 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 Can Large Pillsbury Biscuits
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 5 Tablespoons Butter

Directions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 330 degrees. To do this, simply turn your air fryer on at 330 degrees and let it run for about 3-5 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar. Set aside.
  3. Open the can of biscuits and cut the center out of each one. (I use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter as my doughnut cutter is too small.)
  4. Place the larger, outside portion in your air fryer.
  5. Run for 4-7 minutes at 330 degrees. You may need to adjust this slightly depending on your particular air fryer model. After making this recipe in 3 different air fryers, I’ve learned it can take anywhere from 4-7 minutes to fully cook the doughnuts. The first time you make the recipe, you’ll need to be sure to check to make sure they are fully cooked in the middle.
  6. As the doughnuts are cooking, melt the butter.
  7. Using a silicone pastry brush, coat the doughnuts with melted butter. Then lay in the bowl of cinnamon-sugar mixture and use a spoon to coat the top too.
  8. Gently shake off excess cinnamon sugar.
  9. Serve doughnuts hot.
  10. ***When you air fry the “holes”, set your timer for just 2-4 minutes and top those with the butter and cinnamon/sugar too.

You can find the complete air fryer doughnut recipe here.

7. Air Fryer Lemon Tofu Piccata

Serves: 4 | Prep time: 30 mins | Cook time: 20 mins | Total time: 50 mins

Ingredients

For the Marinade

  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Tofu

  • 1 block extra firm tofu – pressed and cut into 8 rectangular cutlets
  • 1/2 cup vegan mayo
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs – OR vegan breadcrumbs, if you can find them or want to make your own

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons parsley
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 teaspoons potato starch or cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons capers

To Serve

  • 1 lemon sliced into rounds

Directions

  1. Combine all of the marinade ingredients in your blender or food processor. Puree until you have a pretty smooth mix. In a shallow bowl or on a large plate, cover the tofu with the marinade. Set aside to marinate for 15-30 minutes
  2. Measure the vegan mayo into a shallow bowl and the panko in another shallow bowl. Dredge each tofu piece first in the mayo, then in the panko, making sure to get a nice, even coating.
  3. Arrange the pieces in a single layer in your air fryer basket. You may need to air fry these in two batches, if you can’t fit all 8 cutlets in your basket in a single layer without overcrowding them – that will depend on the size of your basket. You can also use a rack, if you have one. Cook on 370 for 20 minutes, shaking the cutlets gently after 10 minutes, to prevent sticking. Repeat with the second batch, if needed.

Make the Lemon Piccata Sauce

  1. While the tofu cooks, combine all of the sauce ingredients except the capers in your blender or food processor. Puree until smooth, then stir in the capers.
  2. Pour the sauce into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, stirring for about 5-7 minutes, until it thickens.
  3. To serve, spoon a couple of tablespoons of the sauce over the tofu and garnish with a lemon round and a parsley sprig.

9. Air Fried Potato Wedges

Serves: 4 | Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 20 mins | Total time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Russet potatoes (approximately 2-3 medium potatoes)
  • 1 Tbsp flaxseed or flax meal
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • 3 Tbsp nutritional yeast flakes
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp onion powder
  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp parsley flakes
  • 1/2 tsp season salt (more or less to taste preference)

Directions

  1. Start by washing and drying your potatoes and slicing them into wedges. You want each wedge to be fairly close to the same size so they will cook evenly.
  2. Next, whip up a flax egg by whisking together 1 Tbsp flax meal and 3 Tbsp warm water. After mixing well, set the mixture to the side to thicken up a bit. If you have flaxseed on hand, to make flax meal, simply grind the seeds in a coffee grinder or blender. Better yet, just toss the seeds and water for the flax egg into your blender and make the flax egg completely in there.
  3. In a medium-size bowl, combine the flour and seasonings. My favorites for this recipe are nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, seasoned salt, and parsley flakes. Whisk them together well.
  4. Now, dip each potato wedge into the flax egg and coat well. Then dredge each one through the flour-herb mixture. Roll around to coat each piece, shake off any excess, and place in the air fryer basket.
  5. Lay the breaded potato wedges in a single layer, so they don’t stick together.
  6. Set air fryer temperature to 370°F and the time to 20 minutes. After approximately 10 minutes of cooking, stop them and flip the wedges. If there are any dry floury spots, spritz them with water and continue cooking for the remaining 10 minutes.

8. Air Fryer Keto Avocado Fries

Serves: 5 | Prep time: 15 mins | Cook time: 10 mins | Total time: 25 mins

air fryer avocado fries
Source: https://kirbiecravings.com/

Ingredients

  • 2 large firm and ripe avocados peeled and pitted
  • juice of one lemon
  • 1 large egg whisked
  • 1 cup superfine blanched almond flour
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • cooking oil spray

Directions

  1. Slice avocado into thick wedges/slices, about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick. I was able to get around 14 slices per avocado.
  2. If baking fries, preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. If not baking, skip this step and move on to the next step.
  3. Optional step: to cut some of the bitterness that occurs when the avocado is cooked, I like to coat the avocados in lemon juice and also squeeze more fresh lemon juice over the avocados after they are done cooking. If the bitterness doesn’t bother you, you can skip this step. Otherwise, add avocado slices to a bowl. Squeeze lemon juice over avocados. Gently toss avocado until they are evenly coated in lemon juice.
  4. Assemble your coating ingredients. In a small bowl add whisked egg. Add almond flour and cheese to food processor and pulse until evenly mixed and parmesan cheese resembles coarse grains of sand. Pour into a medium bowl.
  5. Line the part of your work station where you will be coating the avocado with parchment paper. Spoon a small amount of breading onto the parchment paper (just enough to cover the bottom of an avocado slice).
  6. Dip an avocado slice in the egg wash. After it is fully coated, shake it a few times, making sure to shake off any excess egg drippings back into the egg bowl before adding it to the breading. The reason for doing this is that you don’t want the egg drippings going into the breading. The moisture will cause the breading to clump and they will no longer stick.
  7. Place the avocado slice onto the small mound of breading, applying a little pressure so those breading sticks to the bottom of the avocado.
  8. Wipe your hand that was holding the avocado so that your hand is also dry before touching the breading. Sprinkle breading over the surface of the avocado, until it is coated in crumbs. Use your fingers to gently press the breading onto the avocado so that it sticks. This works better than rolling the avocado in breading.
  9. Carefully set the avocado slice onto your prepared baking sheet if baking or into the air fryer basket if you are using the air fryer. Repeat with remaining avocado slices. Make sure to place avocado fries in a single layer in basket or on baking sheet so they do not overlap or touch.
  10. Spray surface of avocado fries with cooking oil spray. Set temperature of air fryer to 375°F and cook for about 10 minutes or until coating is dark golden brown and crispy.
  11. If desired, squeeze fresh lemon juice onto fries. Serve immediately while still crispy. I served mine with spicy mayonnaise which I made by mixing mayonnaise with hot sauce. I also garnished with some fresh cilantro.
