Among the most popular fish in the world, tilapia provides a mild taste and firm texture that makes it ideal for a variety of dishes. Native to Africa, tilapia can now be found in ponds and tanks all over the world. In addition to being delicious, tilapia is also a healthy source of protein and and omega-3 fatty acids.

Tilapia is typically farmed, though it can also be caught in the wild. Aquaculture is the practice of farming aquatic animals, such as fish, in order to provide a sustainable food source. When done properly, aquaculture can have a positive impact on the environment by providing a natural filtration system for water and releasing fewer pollutants than land-based farms.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO MAKE THE AIR FRYER Tilapia?

I am using the COSORI Air Fryer, 5 QT, 9-in-1 Airfryer to cook this quick and easy air fryer tilapia. This large-capacity air fryer can cook for 4 people easily.

You may choose either fresh tilapia fillet or frozen tilapia for this recipe. I am using fresh tilapia as I like the flavor of fresh fish better.

How to cook Tilapia in The AIR FRYER

Preheat: First, preheat your fryer to 400 degrees F.

Season: While the air fryer is preheating, season the Tilapia fillet. Pat dry the fillet and spray some oil on both sides of the fillet. Sprinkle evenly garlic powder, salt, and pepper on both sides of the fish fillet.

Cook: Light coat the air fryer basket with some oil to prevent sticking. I am using parchment paper instead as parchment paper prevents the fish to stick onto the air fryer basket and cleaning will be less messy after cooking.

Place the tilapia fillet into the air fryer basket. Cook for 8 to 12 minutes at 400 degrees F. The timing requires depends on the thickness of the fish and whether you are using fresh or frozen. Frozen fillets will take slightly longer to cook. Flip the fillets halfway through the cooking.

While the fish is cooking, mix the melted butter with Italian herbs, salt, and pepper into a sauce bowl. Mix well.
